Join us for an immersive dance experience for intermediate and advanced teen dancers with a ballet background. Dancers train in a wide range of styles and approaches that reflect the professional dance world today including: body work and conditioning to develop a deeper sense of body awareness and long-lasting and healthy movement practices; rigorous and invigorating classical ballet technique, pointe work, character and repertory; modern and contemporary technique, and cultural styles; workshops in injury prevention, ballet history, music, and choreography; The intensive culminates in a showing for family and friends.
Pre-Requisites: Students must be the minimum age on June 1 to participate. For classical ballet technique classes, students must have taken intermediate or advanced level classical ballet for the previous three years, including pointe or pre-pointe (minimum 2-3 classes per week). Students who have questions about eligibility or prior experience should e-mail Dance Division Supervisor, Kathryn Wilkening, at kathryn.wilkening@nashville.gov.
Classes will take place in person. Masks are currently optional for students but the policy will be evaluated based on the most recent health and safety guidelines.

The Junior Ballet Intensive is a wonderful way for students to transition into a more rigorous training environment over the summer, work with guest faculty, and challenge themselves in a supportive and healthy environment. Students take ballet technique, variations, and enrichment classes. Appropriate for students enrolled in Ballet: Beg II/III, Int I or II (or equivalent) during the 2021/22 school year or as a first intensive for Int III students.
