An immersive dance experience for intermediate and advanced teen dancers with a ballet background. Dancers train in a wide range of styles and approaches that reflect the professional dance world today including: somatic and conditioning techniques to develop a deeper sense of body awareness and long-lasting and healthy movement practices; rigorous and invigorating classical ballet technique, pointe work, partnering, character, and repertory; modern and contemporary technique; social and cultural styles; and workshops in dancer health. The intensive culminates in a showing for family and friends. Pre-Requisites: Students must be the minimum age on June 1 to participate. For classical ballet technique classes, students must have taken intermediate or advanced level classical ballet for the previous three years, including pointe or pre-pointe (minimum 2-3 classes per week). Students who have questions about eligibility or prior experience should e-mail Dance Division Supervisor, Kathryn Wilkening, at [email protected]. We recommend our Junior Ballet Intensive for 12 or 13 year old students trying an intensive for the first time.
