CLASS FOR CHILDREN & TEENS
The Dance Division of the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation currently offers fall and spring sessions of classes in classical ballet, pointe, contemporary, tap, and creative movement. We offer additional summer camps, classes, and intensives in June and July. Learn more about Summer Study with the Metro Parks Dance Division.
Performance Opportunities: Centennial Youth Ballet presents The Mini-Nutcracker each year as well as the Annual Spring Dance Concert. Students are first eligible to perform in The Mini-Nutcracker when they are 9 years old and in Ballet: Beginning III or higher and have completed the previous spring semester in ballet with Metro Dance. Students in the fall session of Advanced I, II, and III are eligible for the Spring Dance Concert. For all classes, an observation class at the end of the fall and spring sessions serves as a time when the students can share what they have learned with their family members and friends and is a great way to introduce them to dancing in front of an audience. Occasionally, we are invited to participate in a local festival and will invite students to participate in a short group dance as time and staff resources allow.
