Christen Heilman | Metro Parks Theater Division Supervisor

is a Northwest Ohio native and proud graduate of the Performing Arts School of Metropolitan Toledo. An actor, singer, dancer, and designer, Christen’s theatrical life has been a vibrant tapestry—woven from nearly 30 years of performing and 15 years of costume design, all grounded in her Bachelor’s degree in Arts Communication with a Musical Theater specialization.

Classically trained in ballet at Ballet Hispanico (NYC), she’s graced the stage with The Metropolitan Repertory Ballet (NYC), North American Ballet, and the Toledo Ballet. Tennessee audiences may recognize her from performances at The Roxy Regional Theater, Chaffin’s Barn, and Actor’s Bridge Ensemble—or perhaps from a surprise appearance in music videos, commercials, of the recent film Sunshine Girls.

Christen’s love for teaching began back in high school and blossomed after returning from her Ballet Hispanico studies, when she discovered the joy of leading her own class. Since then, she’s taught across the Midwest and served as faculty at MTSU and Hocking College, inspiring students in ballet, tap, jazz, musical theater, and creative movement. Many of her students have gone on to shine in professional dance companies and Disney theme parks.

In 2023, Christen’s costume artistry was celebrated in Lipscomb University’s Makers: Behind the Seams exhibit honoring the creators behind Dolly Parton’s iconic looks—work also featured in Dolly’s book of the same name. Her designs light up the stage at CYB’s Mini-Nutcracker and Spring Showcase, and have appeared with Governor’s School for the Arts, Nashville Ballet, Actor’s Bridge Ensemble, Street Theater Company, and Nashville Children’s Theater.

From center stage to backstage magic, Christen’s career has been fueled by joy, creativity, and a deep love for sharing the arts. She is thrilled to be sharing her love for the arts with the community of Nashville Metro Parks in conjunction with her position as Metro Parks Theater Supervisor.
