MEET THE 2025 ANIMATA ARTISTS
garage collective is a Nashville, TN, based movement group co-founded by freelance dance artists Kristen Carrara, McKay House, Emma Morrison, & Amanda Reichert. Since their inception in the Fall of 2022, Garage Collective has been commissioned to create improvisational structures for live performance in locations ranging from art galleries to local music venues. They have performed in collaboration with local musicians at Nelson Drum Shop, Soft Junk, The Blue Room/Third Man Records, Zeitgeist Gallery, COOP Gallery, the Nashville Pantheon, and Backstage: Moon Phase Lab. Most recently, they premiered their newest work, titled The Galaxy Cut, at Oz Arts Nashville in collaboration with Sarah Saturday and Dan Hoy as part of the Brave New Works Lab.
Sari Hoke was born in a living room in Nashville, TN in 1993. She is a dancer/choreographer, singer/songwriter and recent graduate of the Nashville Film Institute. Sari danced with PDX Contemporary Ballet in Portland, OR from 2015-2018, performing in original works by Drew Jacoby, Katie Sherman, Doug Baum, Kiera Brinkley and others. Sari completed a BFA in Contemporary Dance and began an interdisciplinary MFA at Concordia University in Montréal in 2023: “Interpretation as an Unlearning Process”. In Montréal, Sari was involved in various research and performance-based grant projects with professors and peers: Sasha Kleinplatz’s “Dramaturgy in Circus and Contemporary Dance”; Lilia Mestre’s “Artificial Friendship”; Charles Gao’s “Welcome to the Digital Desert”; and Mossy Society’s “She Burns it Down”. Sari has choreographed and performed in works at the Montréal Fringe Festival in 2022 & 2023; Lots of Love Festival in 2022 & 2023; the Indeterminacy Festival in 2022; Le Festival des Clown de Montréal in 2022; Le Festival des Arts Entrelacés in 2023 and Kindling Arts Festival in 2024. Sari was a part of Benoît Lachambre & Ricardo Rubio’s field project, “All in All”, at ImpulsTanz in Vienna in 2023 and has continued exploring practices in vocalization, energy work and spirituality. Sari hopes to contribute to the inclusive and local arts community that’s growing in Nashville and continue to engage in collaborative, multimedia works.
Lee Myles, Nashville native, is a movement artist and facilitator, choreographer, and singer/songwriter. After graduating from Nashville School of the Arts, she went on to study dance performance and education at Illinois State University. While there she directed the dance program at Victory Academy in Bloomington, IL. She also collaborated with local music artist, Rebecca Dorise, on multiple music videos and elementary school musical productions. In 2017, Lee moved back to Nashville, where she danced with Found Movement Group until 2019. That same year, she co-founded The Toolbox, a choreography program for those seeking a collaborative container to develop their creative voice, with Stacie Flood-Popp. In the wake of Covid-19 lockdowns and recovering from chronic injury, Lee began to expand her artistic vision and practice to music. Since 2020, she has written a bountiful body of music works, performing at various writers rounds, tribute shows, and showcases around Nashville and beyond. Lee found her way back to movement in 2022, presenting a choreographic work for Found Artist Showcase, featuring the music of Nashville artist, Mary Jennings. The following year she created and presented a movement piece, featuring her own song, “Solid”. Since then, she continues to find ways to merge her knowledge and passions for the craft of dance and music to create a collaborative and embodied experience for witnesses and participants. Lee’s hope is to evoke bravery and authenticity with everything they create, forging a path for artists and supporters of all identities to experience and embody collective liberation.
